THE LOSING DRESSING ROOM.
It’s over 20 years since I last stood in a losing championship dressing room.I had the ‘new’ experience last Saturday evening.Things have changed.Todays young men react differently in defeat. There are so many distractions nowadays.Comfort is easily found by other means. You learn loads in a dressing room.Watching all the different characters at various stages of their careers & how they deal with loss, stress, pressure, anxiety & winning as well as losing of course. As I swept the floor after the match & the players streamed past me out the door,I was reminded of my own past & in particular the losing dressing room. How I coped, what I changed & what I learned.Every time we take the field, there will be a winner & a loser. It‘s the same in Life.Losing is part & parcel of the deal.Loss or failure from a sporting perspective,in a relationship or business venture. We are not perfect.
“Failure is better than a Harvard Degree”-Dan Koe founder of Modern Mastery & Digital Economics.
The only failure you want to avoid is dying.
You need to ask,”what can I learn from this loss or failure?” Turn the situation into an opportunity for growth, for building your resilience, what have you learned, what can you do to improve & what is the take away for you? Wisdom is the gift we receive when we lose or fail.We accumulate invaluable points in experience.Hurt gets you nowhere.Focus on the lessons. That will help you grow.Failure/loss can grip you like quick sand, feel it & then turn it on its head & take out the nuggets of learning, the lessons that will help you going forward.Failure/loss creates detours that eventually lead to the fast lane of success.
It’s not a bad thing to be reminded that we have work to do to improve,we need to develop in order to succeed.- Losing is still HARD though! 🙉 #learning#work #mindset#opportunity#success#business#experience#growth#careers#help#like#react#building#loss
