MOTIVATION
How is your Motivation ? Are you easily motivated ? Do you struggle with it ?
Being motivated or finding ways to be motivated is crucial because it allows us to change behaviours, develop competencies, be creative, grow intrests, make plans, set goals, develop your talents and boost your engagement.
“Action may not always bring happiness, but there is no happiness without action”. – William James.
In my own personal experience motivation is driven by desire. Desire creates an edge. It produces the energy to get you up out of bed when you don’t feel like it. It gives you the power to push yourself when it begins to feel impossible. Desire gives you the will to do the tough things others are not willing to do.
Desire is the Mother of Motivation, it’s where motivation is born. It will pull you across the finish line and help you achieve your goals or succesfully complete your challenges. The benefits of motivation are visible in how we live our lives. We are constantly responding to changes in our lives and our environment, we need motivation to take corrective action as we deal with changing circumstances. Motivation is a vital resource that helps us to adapt, maintain wellbeing, function productively as we navigate our pathway through life and it’s constantly changing stream of threats and oportunities.
“Motivation is a fire from within. If someone else tries to light that fire under you, chances are it will burn very briefly”. – Stephen R. Covey.
Set your goal or make your plan, then decide how you are going to achieve it and what will you have to do. Look within and find that desire that is buried there. Find the fire that will motivate you to change, achieve or conquer and get to your destination. Create your desire in relation to how you see yourself now and in the future. Motivation will follow.
‘Our plans and goals miscarry because they have no aim. When you don’t know which harbor you are making for, no wind is the right wind.
One of my favourite quotes, “If you really want to do something, YOU’LL FIND A WAY. If you don’t, YOU’LL FIND AN EXCUSE”. – Jim Rohn.
